On October 28, 2009, President Obama signed the Homeland Security Appropriation bill into law. The bill included a Three-year extension of the Conrad 30 J-1 visa waiver program. This would mean that a J-1 physician who enters the United States on or before September 30, 2012 to complete a training program can pursue a waiver of the two year home residency requirement under the Conrad 30 program.
